Best Onewheel Racing Events

Not all races are created equal. These are the ones that go on your record.

Compete Where It Counts

Not all Onewheel races are the same. USAFLT-sanctioned events are the races that count — toward your official national ranking, your competitive record, and your path to championship-level competition.

Every USAFLT-sanctioned event is independently organized, rider-focused, and built around the same thing: finding out who the fastest Onewheel racers in the country really are.

What Makes a USAFLT Event Different

USAFLT sanctions events that meet a defined standard for competition format, safety requirements, and race integrity. When you register for a USAFLT-sanctioned event, you know what you’re getting:

  • Official national rankings points — your results count toward the USAFLT national standings
  • Board inspections — stock powertrain requirements enforced, so everyone races on equal footing
  • Structured divisions — Pro, Amateur, Legends, Clydesdale, and more, so you race riders at your level
  • Safety standards — helmets and wrist guards required at every event
  • Qualified race officials — trained staff on course and at the finish line

These aren’t just community ride days. These are legitimate competitive events with verifiable results and national stakes.

USAFLT Race Formats

USAFLT sanctions multiple race formats across the season, each testing different skills and suited to different terrain.

Format

Downhill Sprint

Head-to-head elimination racing on hillside or mountain terrain. Riders navigate natural descents with roots, rocks, and elevation changes at full speed. The most visually spectacular format in the sport — and the most unforgiving.

Format

Trail Enduro

Multi-stage timed racing across natural singletrack. Riders run each stage solo, ranked by cumulative time. Enduro events typically run across two to three days, with practice days before competition stages begin. Rewards technical trail skills and consistency over raw speed.

Format

Motocross Track

Racing on dedicated MX-style courses with berms, climbs, and built-in Onewheel-specific features. Head-to-head bracket format with multiple riders on course simultaneously. Highly spectator-friendly with full-course visibility.

Format

Time Trial

Solo timed runs on a marked course. Riders are ranked by finish time with no head-to-head contact. Common as a qualifying format within larger multi-format events.

Race Divisions

USAFLT-sanctioned events offer competitive divisions for riders at every level. You don’t need to be a pro to register — you need to show up.

Division Who it’s for
Pro Men / Pro Women Elite-level competitors racing for national ranking and championship qualification
Amateur / Novice Riders newer to competition — your first race belongs here
Legends Racers 50 years and older
Clydesdale Men 215 lbs and over
Groms Youth riders, typically with adult guides on course

Division availability varies by event. Check individual event listings for the full division breakdown.

What to Expect at a USAFLT Event

Before

Before race day

Register early — popular events sell out. Once registered, review the event-specific rules, especially board modification guidelines. All competitors must provide their own stock Future Motion Onewheel with no motor or electronics modifications.

Check-in

Race day check-in

Arrive early. Check-in includes board inspection and waiver signing. Officials verify your board meets competition standards before you’re cleared to race. Helmets and wrist guards are required from check-in onward.

Practice

Practice

Most events include a dedicated practice window before racing begins. Use it. Walk the course if you can. The riders who do best at their first event are almost always the ones who spent the most time on the course before the start gate opened.

Racing

Racing

Races run in timed or bracket format depending on the event. In bracket formats, the two fastest riders from each heat advance. Results are logged and submitted to USAFLT for national rankings processing after the event.

After

After the race

Stick around. The post-race scene at Onewheel events is half the reason people keep coming back. Awards, community rides, and conversations with riders you just raced against — this is where friendships in the sport get built.

How Results Count Toward National Rankings

Every result at a USAFLT-sanctioned event is submitted to the national rankings system. Your ranking is calculated from your top results across the season — so competing at more events improves your standing even if you don’t podium at every one.

Rankings determine qualification pathways for championship-level competition at the end of the season. The sooner you start competing, the more results you have to work with.
