Oak City Shredfest 6 Recap: East Coast Onewheel Racing at Lakeside Retreats

Oak City Shredfest has been building since 2021, when Josh Christensen and a group of riders from the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area decided the community needed something bigger than group rides. What started under 200 attendees has grown into one of the anchor events on the East Coast PEV calendar, and the sixth edition added something new: sanctioned Onewheel competition under USA FLT for the first time.
Lakeside Retreats provided the setting, and the Oak City Squirrels, the volunteer crew that builds trails and runs the show each year, delivered a racing program across multiple divisions covering Pro, Amateur, Legends, Clydesdale, and Youth.
Pro Men: Connor Chapel
Connor Chapel took the Pro Men win, with Drew Hawkins in second and Noah Kellam in third. The Kellam family made their presence known across divisions throughout the weekend.
