Seek n' Shred 2026 Onewheel Race Recap

Wilseyville, CA

ShredFest 6 is done. Seek n' Shred 2026 ran May 28-31 at Blue Mountain Event Center in Wilseyville, California, and it delivered one of the fastest, most competitive editions of the event since the series started. Rain early in the week packed down the notoriously dusty course and gave riders traction they haven't had out here before. Times were fast across every division. The racing was tight.

Big thank you to Jenn and Manuel Soto for putting this one together. Six events deep and still delivering.

73 riders competed in the Onewheel Downhill across 10 divisions, with head-to-head bracket racing following a single timed time trial run. The format: one TT attempt seeds your bracket, then top finishers advance through heats to a six-rider borderX-style final.

Here's how every division played out.

Course Conditions: Rain, Tack, and the Rock Garden

The week started wet. Rain hit Blue Mountain right at the opening of the event, turning the course muddy and keeping most riders off the trails for the first day. By the time the course dried out, the dust and loose sand that plagued the 2025 edition had been completely packed down.

The difference was dramatic. Riders ran higher tire pressures, corner entry speeds went up, and the overall pace of racing was significantly faster than last year.

"We really lucked out," said Pro Men finisher Nico Aleman. "All that dust and sand has been totally packed down. It made for such a freaking fast course. It was insane this year compared to last year."

The other major addition to the 2026 course was a rock garden built into the hairpin corner near the bottom. Sacramento rider Jeff Bushey, a Seek n' Shred volunteer and builder since ShredFest 2, spent three weekends on the property designing and building it. His goal was a technical speed check with multiple lines so riders could choose how much risk they wanted to take.

"I just wanted to build something that made people think," Bushey said. "Not just bonking. Something that was actually a challenge."

The rock garden became the defining feature of the weekend, coming up in nearly every post-race conversation. Most riders navigated it cleanly in time trials but found it more consequential in the head-to-head heats, where the choice of line often determined position through the rest of the descent.

Pro Men Results: Cameron Patecell Wins ShredFest 6

Cameron Patecell took the Pro Men final, converting a 5th-place time trial into the overall win. Nico Aleman finished 2nd after a back-and-forth battle through the lower section of the course that came down to the final meters. Jack Minsker, who posted the fastest time trial of anyone at the event (2:55.900), finished 3rd.

"Me and Nico kind of stayed neck and neck through the rest of it," Minsker said. "We had a smoker of a finish. I think he finished like three inches in front of me."

Jahfari Silsley, the 2025 Race for the Rail champion, went 2nd in time trials and 4th in the final. Jay Odinokov, representing e-Motion, finished 9th in time trials and did not advance to the final.

Pro Women Results: Zayne Carter Wins ShredFest 6

Zayne Carter won the Pro Women division, taking the top spot in both time trials (3:29.300) and the final. Emma Stewart finished 2nd, with Sarah Meeker taking 3rd after posting the 2nd-fastest time trial in the division. Heather Graehl and Laura Dobbs, both racing under the Snaked Ick banner, finished 4th and 5th respectively.

Expert Men Results: Cody Thornton Wins ShredFest 6

Cody Thornton won the Expert Men final after posting the 2nd-fastest time trial in the division. Dane Berry of Seattle Stoke Service was the fastest Expert Men rider in time trials (2:59.740, 3rd overall across all divisions) but finished 4th in the final.

"I ended up finishing fourth," Berry said. "I couldn't get a couple passes and came off my board one time. But there were some great racers out there, we ran really hard, pushed each other and had a ton of fun."

Cian Fahey took 2nd in the final, with Bill Will finishing 3rd.

Amateur Men (18-29) Results: Aidan Wilson Wins ShredFest 6

Aidan Wilson of Seattle Stoke Service won the Amateur Men 18-29 division, posting the fastest time trial (3:40.900) and converting that into the final win. Dominic Morero of Battle Born Onewheel finished 2nd, with Alex Beckman taking 3rd.

Amateur Men (30+) Results: Wil Silsley Wins ShredFest 6

Wil Silsley of Stoke Mokes, flying in from the Big Island of Hawaii, won the Amateur Men 30+ division from wire to wire. He got the hole shot in both his heat race and the final, leading every lap on a Future Motion GTS.

"I was just racing myself all weekend," Silsley said. "I got the whole shot twice. I could hear him behind me, pressuring me. But that's all it was, just noise back there."

The rock garden presented the biggest challenge of his weekend. He made it through cleanly in time trials but came off the board near the end in both the heat and the final, relying on the gap he had built in the faster sections to hold position.

Garrett Mumford finished 2nd, with Steve Ginter taking 3rd.

Amateur Women Results: Kaitlyn Norman Wins ShredFest 6

Kaitlyn Norman of Float Pack won the Amateur Women division, reversing her time trial position (2nd behind Ruth Thornton) to take the final. Ruth Thornton of GCO finished 2nd, with Lori Mier taking 3rd.

Legends (50+) Results: Charles Leib Wins ShredFest 6

Charles Leib of Team Mendo Coast Onewheel / Two Lungs Onewheel dominated the Legends division, posting the fastest time trial by over 36 seconds (3:27.640) and winning the final. The Mendocino County rider has been on the national circuit for five years and was one of the most composed racers of the weekend.

"The most important thing is to get the whole shot and not look back," Leib said. "Hold your ground, give it everything you got."

The rock garden was the one variable that challenged him in practice. He was 3-for-8 on attempts through the week before locking it in for race day.

Jeff Bushey, the man who built the rock garden, finished 3rd in the division after going down on it in his own qualifying run.

Curtis Blackwell of RST finished 2nd.

Clydesdale (215lb+) Results: Dee Montes Wins ShredFest 6

Dee Montes of Central California Onewheel won the Clydesdale final after finishing 2nd in time trials behind Bobby Anderson. Anderson finished 2nd in the final. Robert Ansell of OWAZ took 3rd.

Teens (14-17) Results: Ethan Percy Wins ShredFest 6

Ethan Percy won the Teens division, posting the fastest time trial (3:35.640) and taking the final. James O'Neal of the O'Neal crew finished 2nd, picking up his second career podium after a 3rd at Let It Ride earlier this season.

"I practiced a lot more," O'Neal said. "I just felt a lot more confident. I wasn't as nervous."

Noah Lewis of Flowstate Fusion finished 3rd, with Griffin Hodgkinson of Mendo Coast Onewheel Riders taking 4th.

Groms (13 and Under) Results: Mason O'Neal Wins ShredFest 6

Mason O'Neal of the O'Neal crew won the Groms division, posting the fastest time trial (3:48.850) and taking the final. Brody Perkins of Reno Floatwerkz finished 2nd, with Graham Fey taking 3rd.
